Tuning in to what others tune out

Is David Grusch The New William Cooper?

Just a few months before 9/11, William Cooper warned of a potential attack on the United States. He said it would be pinned on Osama Bin Laden. By the end of 2001, Cooper was dead, killed in a shootout with the Apache County Sheriff Department. A little over a decade earlier, he published Behold a Pale Horse, a book that blended his behind-the-scenes military experience — much of which dealt with Top Secret documents he accessed while working intelligence for the U.S. Navy — with research and interviews to piece together a cohesive conspiracy theory that involved aliens, secret societies, and what we’ve since come to call the deep state (Coper called it the “secret government.” Much of his “hypothesis,” as he urged readers to think of it, has since proven true.

In 2023, David Grusch testified before congress about UFOs, alien “biologics,” and a whole lot of personal danger that came along with having that knowledge. Since, he’s been lauded as a trusted and exemplary whistleblower who kicked off a very important public conversation that the government appears to finally be taking seriously. Like Cooper, Grusch cites his experience in military intelligence as the source of much of his information, either from programs he was personally read into, videos he was shown or, often, hearsay from trusted individuals often disclosed in serious, classified settings.

Days ago, Grusch appeared on Joe Rogan’s podcast, The Joe Rogan Experience. The conversation varied widely, but much of it dealt with UFOs and aliens — or, rather, non-human intelligence. Once enticing clip, pulled from the two-and-a-half-hour conversation, making the rounds is about a purported battle between two different groups of aliens. Grusch was told about an apparent conflict between “grays” and “reptilians.” A reptilian craft was downed, humans responded, and were subsequently attacked by gorilla-physiqued, scaly beings. The humans shot and killed those reptilians. Grusch says humans were also killed in the encounter.

Pretty wild stuff — nigh unbelievable — from a person who has until now been largely celebrated as a source of truth piercing a veil of lies. What Grusch conveys is genuinely crazy to think about. It sounds just about as wild as the conspiracies Cooper put forth in “Behold a Pale Horse.” He was ridiculed for it. Now Grusch gets to experience the same. Just poke around Reddit to see what people think of his appearance on Rogan’s show. (Admittedly, sucking up to members of the current administration, like calling Stephen Miller “alpha,” doesn’t help Grusch sell the narrative.)

Like Cooper, it’s possible Grusch has been sold the world’s most elaborate lie (along with the rest of us). It’s something I’ve heard him say before, and it’s the same possibility Cooper suggests in his book. Like Cooper, though, I think Grusch believes what he’s saying — at least as far as he trusts his sources.

And if Grusch is as much like Cooper as I suspect, time will sift out the truth from the static, and we’ll see that he’s an intelligent individual who has put together a puzzle that most of us could never begin to imagine as best he can. We’ll see much of what he says prove true, and that he was right to admit he doesn’t have it all figured out. He’s passing along information as best he can based on his unusual level of access, and if even a fraction of it is true, we’ve got a lot to think about a species.

Again, Grusch is worried about his own safety exposing this information. I just hope that he doesn’t suffer a similar tragic fate to Bill Cooper.
