New Book Day! Diving Into Jay Stratton’s ‘Out Of The Shadows’

I just received my copy of Out of the Shadows: Revealing the Truth About Non-Human Intelligent Life by Jay Stratton. If you’re reading this, you’ve probably heard the name before.

Stratton’s publisher, William Morrow, describes him as an official who spent more than 32 years in the military and intelligence community, including a stint as chief of air and space warfare at the Defense Intelligence Agency. He helped found the Advanced Aerospace Weapon System Applications Program (AAWSAP) and created its successor, the Advanced Aerospace Threat Identification Program (AATIP). When the Pentagon formally stood up the UAP Task Force in 2020, Stratton became its first director. William Morrow is calling him “the most senior U.S. Intelligence Official to investigate unidentified anomalous phenomena.” That kind of claim is usually marketing, but if you’ve studied the history of the government’s involvement with the phenomenon, Stratton’s résumé backs that up.

Like I said, I’ve just started the book, but I’m already hooked, not just by knowing Stratton’s reputation and the information promised within, but by the writing style (… and opening on a terrifying anecdote of a gray alien peering in the window at his son helped). These are bite-sized chapters, perfect for readers with middling attention spans, or who by necessity need to put a book down minutes after sneaking away to open it — free time is a luxury as a parent.

What really gets me excited, though, is the timing of the book. It feels like the UFO community has become disillusioned as of late. Disclosure promises get yanked away like Lucy holding a football for Charlie Brown. People are really coming down on once trusted figures like David Grusch and Lue Elizondo. The Political Saucer Substack succinctly documented the implosion of morale amongst the UAP community on Reddit. What I’m interested to see is whether this book can reinvigorate the conversation with readers armed with new evidence and corroboration, or if it only amplifies the division, skepticism, and gloom we’ve been seeing lately.

I’ll have a writeup about the book once I’ve finished it. I’m hoping I come out the other side of it feeling more knowledgeable. We’ll see. I’m hopeful (perhaps to a fault). If you want to read along with me, Out of the Shadows is available now on Amazon.
